The town Kakinada is located on sea coast of Bay of Bengal and which is district head quarters of East Godavari District.

           Govt I.T.I., Kakinada is located opp. Engineering College, and by the side of Rangaraya Medical College, Kakinada. It is centrally located in kakinada town on the Pithapuram road, very near to Railway Station and to APSRTC Bus station. There are number of city buses., through Government I.T.I.

           Industrial Training Institute at kakinada was originally established by the Government of India in the Military Barrackson renal basis during 1947.

           During 2nd World War a training center was opened by the Ministry of Defense for giving training to the Ex-servicemen by naming it as V.T.C. From 1-8-1950 it was kept opened for civilians also for training, The administrative of the industrial Training Institute was transferred to the State Government during 1956. Up to 1955 it is under the control of the central Government.

           During 1954 the present I.T.I., site was acquired and separate buildings were constructed to the I.T.I and the buildings were occupied during 1961-62. From 1947 to 1964 Government I.T.I., is under control of the Department of Technical Education. During 1964 the Government I.T.Is are separated and came in to supervision of the Department of Employment and Training.
